Katai processes your data to provide your account, your subscription and the training analysis. You can contact the data controller at support@kat-ai.com.
Data we process
We process account and profile data, country and date of birth, Stripe identifiers and status, consents, training activity, videos sent for analysis, technical results, security logs and support communications (including any screenshot you attach). For family seats we also process the link between the guardian account that pays for them and the accounts that use them. Stripe receives and processes payment data; Katai does not store full card numbers.
Purpose and legal basis
We use the data to perform the contract, authenticate you, process payments, analyse sessions, prevent fraud, keep the service secure and meet legal obligations. Optional messages are based on consent where applicable.
Retention and recipients
We keep the data while the account is active and for the applicable legal periods. When you delete your account we cancel the subscription, delete videos and anonymise operational data, except for records that must be kept for tax obligations, fraud prevention or the defence of claims. Providers such as Stripe, Resend, hosting and monitoring act to provide the service under their own data protection terms.
Emails and notices
We send you service notices by email and as notifications in the app: welcome, end of the free trial, failed payments, cancellation (with an optional survey about the reason), renewal of annual subscriptions and, for the guardian of a family subscription, a weekly summary of the activity on their seats (which they can stop receiving with the link it includes). Only if you agree (when signing up, in the app Settings or in your web account) and you are 14 or older, we also send you news and tips: reminders to train again, your first correction, streaks and new belts. You can withdraw this at any time from those same places or with the unsubscribe link in each email.
To know whether our emails arrive and are useful, our provider Resend records whether they are delivered, whether they bounce, whether they are opened (with a tracking image) and whether a link is clicked. We only use this data in aggregate and to stop writing to addresses that do not work.
Minors and accounts managed by a guardian
Children under 14 can only use Katai’s paid features with a seat paid for by their parent or legal guardian (the guardian). When buying seats, the guardian declares that they are an adult and, for minors, their legal representative, and authorises the processing of their data to provide them with the service. That declaration, together with payment with their payment method, is the consent required by law for children under 14 (Article 8 of the GDPR and Article 7 of the Spanish data protection act, LOPDGDD). We keep the date, the version of these texts and the IP address from which it was given.
From their web account, for each seat the guardian sees the nickname, avatar and email of the account using it, since when, the date of the last training, which days it trained in the last week, its streak of consecutive days, its level, its belt and the devices where the app is open (and can close those sessions). They do not see that account’s videos, scores or messages. The guardian can pause the account (it cannot be used until they reactivate it), free the seat (the account is kept, without paid access) or delete it (its data is deleted as with any account deletion). Whoever uses a seat can ask for deletion from the app: we pass the request on to the guardian by email.
Accounts of users under 18 cannot enable the public profile or upload their own photo (they can only choose one of Katai’s avatars), and their nicknames are moderated. A minor can sign up with an email address belonging to the guardian (for example, an alias such as name+child@…): in that case, the sign-in codes go to the guardian.
From the age of 14, minors exercise their rights themselves; below that age, their guardian exercises them by writing to support@kat-ai.com or from their web account.
Cookies and visit measurement
The kat-ai.com website counts visits to know how people find us and which campaigns work. If you accept cookies, we store two first-party cookies for 13 months (katai_consent, with your choice, and katai_vid, a random identifier) and remember in your browser for 30 days the campaign you came from. If you do not accept them, we count the visit without cookies, with an anonymous identifier that changes every day and cannot recognise you. We do not use advertising or third-party cookies, and we do not store your IP address with the visit.
Your rights
You can request access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and portability, and withdraw a consent, by writing to support@kat-ai.com. From your account at kat-ai.com/cuenta.html you can also correct your data, download it (a file with your account, your corrections and your activity) and delete the account. You can also lodge a complaint with the competent data protection authority.
Security and changes
We apply technical and organisational measures to limit access and detect abuse. We will publish new versions here and ask for your acceptance again when a change is material.
